Healthcare workers are at increased risk of exposure to vaccine-preventable diseases and can transmit infections to vulnerable patients. Vaccination requirements protect both healthcare workers and their patients.

Required Vaccines

  • Hepatitis B: Required by OSHA for healthcare workers with blood exposure
  • Influenza: Required by many institutions annually
  • COVID-19: Required by many healthcare systems
  • MMR: Required if no immunity documented
  • Varicella: Required if no immunity documented
  • Tdap: Pertussis booster recommended

  • OSHA: Bloodborne pathogen standard requires HepB vaccination
  • CMS: Conditions of participation require flu vaccination
